Content: 100% Rayon
Rayon Challis is a man made, light weight, semi-fluid and soft fabric. In the past, rayon was considered to be artificial silk. Due to being slippery and delicate, it is not recommended for beginners.
Difficulty Level: Advanced Beginner- Intermediate
Great For: Summer clothes, pants, drapey skirts, loose-fitting clothes, tops, dresses, luxury pajamas and robes.
*Always start your project with fresh needles and blades. Universal 80/12, 70/10, 75/11 or if you prefer more precise stitching, you may also use 80/12, 70/10 or 75/11 microtex needle. Microtex needle has a sharp edge which creates beautiful and clean top-stitching
*All polyester thread would be the best choice
*Although rayon challis is not considered a truly sheer fabric but before starting, always check it under the sun in order to decide if you need lining
*Avoid using rayon challis for garments that require crisp tailoring or distinctive cut
*Using a cutting board and rotary cutter is extremely helpful when working with slippery fabrics.
* While sewing, pay attention to not pulling the fabric. It will stretch the fabric and cause snagging
* Hand washing is recommended but you may also machine wash on delicate/ gentle cycle. Never use harsh detergents or bleach
*Make sure to use synthetic setting on your iron. Also, a heat reflective iron blanket will prevent abrasion and damage
